1940 LaSalle Series 40-52 Coupe
Dan Kruse Auctions, November 27-28
This car seems to be an original 1940 LaSalle throughout and is in fantastic condition other than the color. Yeah sure! Not exactly a numbers matching carsince the complete car has more upgrades than one can imagine.
Starting with the Art Morrison chassis right down to the fuel injected NorthStar V-8 engine. This is one attractive car that seems to catch the eye with its bright yellow paint. The paint seems to have an overall stunning gloss to it. The body lines are tight and probably better than from the factory. One would think the underbody looks just as nice or better.
All the comforts of modern stopping is well within the reach as this ride has power Wilwood brakes. More modern day comforts include, power bucket seats, automatic transmission, power windows, and rack and pinion steering.
There were only 1800 of these made as LaSalle came into the market at a bad time without name branding and the company soon folded. My guess is this is worth much more as a street rod than a numbers matching collector car. I also think it is an expensive build – probably over $100,000.
