1955 Chevy 3800
Mecum Auction – Kansas City, MO
December 1-3, 2016
This 1955 Chevy 3800 one ton panel delivery is something else. It looks like a fantastic restoration. These large trucks cost a lot to restore just in the paint and body alone. The body looks to be in very solid condition. The paint has a great shine to it and shows no major imperfections anywhere in the pictures. I am not a big fan of two-tone paint, however this looks good.
The truck has had an engine transplant from the original 6-cylinder to a more modern 350 Chevrolet and automatic transmission. The original 6-cylinder was probably not enough power to move this large beast with ease so a good call on the new 350. Under the hood the engine compartment is clean but not overly detailed.
The front and rear bumpers look to be in good condition with no major damage. They have both been painted to match the body color. The original bench seat has been replaced with a more modern set of buckets which look to be more comfortable than the original bench. From the pictures, the seats show no major imperfections and the interior looks pretty tidy.
Maybe not the most practical street rod on the block, however if you’re looking for something different, this would certainly be that.
