1970 Buick GS Stage 1 Convertible
May 20-21, 2016
This Gulfstream Blue 1970 Buick GS Stage 1 convertible is extremely rare! In the collector car world this is the holy grail of cars to have in your collection. When it comes to gold cup investment cars this is the one! With a limited production of these made, and even less available on the market, this is sure to bring some good money.
Factory rated at 360 HP and 510 lb-ft of torque, the Stage 1-specification Ram Air-fed 455 CI V-8 is part of a package that includes a Positraction rear end, heavy-duty cooling, Rally Ride suspension, power steering and power front disc brakes and, in this case, a 4-speed manual transmission – one of only 67 installed in 1970 Stage 1 convertibles and one of just 19 known to exist today.
It’s documented by both its original window sticker and a GS Historic Society report produced from Buick factory records. This car was treated to a rotisserie restoration to Concours-winning standards. Its first show was the 2011 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals, where it was awarded a Concours Gold Trophy and the coveted Best in Show award for the Buick marque.
The cost to build such a quality car is huge. However for the value and retained future value there is very little doubt that these cars will just keep going up! You will not have very many opportunities to acquire such a masterpiece. When you do, go for it!
